Warmland Dance studio is emerging as a hot spot for dancers to train, as it nears the end of one of its most successful seasons to date.
They will be capturing hearts at their year-end showcase as dancers grace the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre on June 1. Tickets are $38 and $18 for students, seniors, and children, and are now available at purchase.cowichanpac.ca/ChooseSeats/2001.
"Our June 1 showcase celebrates the dedication, creativity, and heart our dancers have poured into this season," said artistic director Leah Burley. "At Warmland, we value not only the development of strong technical skills, but also the growth of each dancer as an artist and as a person. We hope the audience leaves inspired by the depth of that journey, and the powerful sense of community that supports it."
Turning up the heat, it has earned its reputation as not only a great studio for youth dance training, but as a place where warmth meets excellence. Becoming known for blending world-class instruction with a deep culture of belonging, Warmland is redefining what dance education looks like in the region, studio officials said.
This competition season Warmland dancers earned the highest scores across Cowichan Valley, securing top honours in several competitions and festivals, including the prestigious and technically demanding jazz category. The studio also received numerous choreography and artistry awards, showcasing a unique creative vision and a commitment to excellence that preserves both authenticity and joy.
“We strive to create a space where warmth, creativity, and excellence coexist, and we’re proud of the community we’ve built together,” said Burley.
The faculty of Warmland puts their best foot forward, as every one of their instructors has trained and performed professionally at the highest levels both nationally and internationally — across ballet, jazz, modern, tap, contemporary and musical theatre. Rather than relying on exam-based systems or narrow, one-track training models, they step up with a holistic approach that is interdisciplinary, and designed to build both skill and artistry in equal measure, making this a one stop shop which offers nurturing environments, strong technique, competitive experiences, as well as academic arts day programs, they said.
Those looking to get in on the movement can now register for summer camps, classes, as well as workshops which are open to dancers of all levels at warmlanddance.com. The studio offers everything from high-level competitive opportunities to recreational classes for all ages, and opens its doors for the Valley’s newest full-time arts-integrated academic day program this fall.
