A Kamloops native and Vernon casino manager just got the honour of a lifetime.

Christian Kelly, who is the regional manager of food and beverage for three casinos; Lake City Casinos in Vernon, along with Chances and Cascades Casino in Kamloops, will be inducted into the B.C. Restaurant Hall of Fame in the Hospitality Service Excellence in Administration/Operations category.

Kelly is also the regional manager, food and beverage for B.C. North.

Starting as a bartender at Milestones, Kelly worked his way up in the industry, ultimately to General Manager of Milestones, before branching off to other pursuits.

"Over the years, Christian has brought his expertise to a number of establishments, culminating in his current role of overseeing the food and beverage operations as a Regional Food and Beverage Manager for three casinos with multiple food and beverage outlets," said Sandra Shecter, media relations specialist with Gateway Casinos.

He was the General Manager of Match Eatery and Public House in 2015, before making the move to Cascade, Chance and Lake City Casinos.

"His exceptional attention to detail supports his effectiveness in managing the complex administrative demands inherent in operating a large, multi-unit hospitality environment," added Schecter. "He is widely recognized for his strategic mindset and diplomatic leadership style."

Kelly will be officially inducted on Monday, Oct. 20, in a celebration ceremony hosted at the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver.
