In a collaboration of furnishings and fur, Crowns Furniture and Mattresses hosted a week-long fundraiser for Shuswap Paws Rescue Society.

Throughout the week of May 27 to June 1, owners Jason Borstel and spouse Kari Puffer hosted an Adoption Sale, with $50 from every sale of what she called their own “orphans” – discontinued items – going to Paws. It culminated with an adoption opportunity with a number of playful puppies and three tiny kittens on-site to charm patrons.

The initial total raised was $500 by mid-day Saturday, but by closing it had reached $650. Crowns sales manager Aaron Alcott said Paws also “got a couple of adoptions out of it,” and a possible new volunteer whom he directed to president Barb Gosselin.
