The sun shone down on a beautiful day in Boitanio Park for the annual Williams Lake Children’s Festival on May 28.
The festival, which has been organized by the Women’s Contact Society for what they believe is over 30 years, included over 25 booths hosted by local community organizations and businesses.
Carrie McCormack, organizer of the event and Program Coordinator for the Child Care Resource & Referral Program for the Women’s Contact Society, said they estimate over 1,000 visitors attended the Sunday event.
“It was kind of a buzz all day long,” said McCormack, noting some booths ran out of supplies they were so busy.
She said organizers were happy to see young families who had children during Covid come out and make connections, noting it has been hard to meet some of these families and connect them with the services, supports and social opportunities in the community.
“That was just wonderful, we were so, so happy about that,” said McCormack.
She said they estimate around 40 per cent of the families at the event included children three years and younger.
