Miocene firefighter's goggles prove great for chopping onions

Curtis Stromsten wore his firefighting goggles while chopping onions for a member and family barebecue

A member of the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department east of Williams Lake recently proved there's a second and handy use for firefighting goggles.

Curtis Stromsten was chopping onions for a barbecue on Canada Day at the fire hall for members and their families and wore the goggles to protect his eyes.

"The goggles worked great - smoke tested and onion approved rating on them now," he told the Tribune Wednesday.

On Saturday, July 5 the MVFD will host an open house at the hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with hot dogs by donation, games, equipment displays, fire trucks, live demonstrations, hall tours and a chance to meet the members.

Stromsten and Robyn have lived in Miocene for five years and he has been a member of the fire department for just as long.
