While the weather might still be cold and damp, View Royal homeowners are being encouraged to think about the warmer months ahead and prepare for wildfire season.
Available for free, homeowners can request a professional home assessment from the FireSmart BC Wildfire Mitigation Program, a provincial program that helps British Columbians increase neighbourhood resilience to wildfires.
“We are proud to be among the communities in B.C. currently offering the FireSmart BC Wildfire Mitigation Program in an effort to mitigate the impacts of wildfire,” said Ryan Eason, FireSmart coordinator at View Royal Fire Rescue, in a news release. “We hope homeowners will take advantage of the opportunity to take action to reduce wildfire risks to their home.”
The assessment will evaluate a property's wildfire exposure, its specific risks and identify ways to reduce them.
View Royal property owners who are interested in scheduling a free home assessment can visit the FireSmart BC website: https://firesmartbcapp.ca/request-home-inspection.
