The local Western Financial Group (WFG) donated to two local charities to help make some holidays happier this year.

Williams Lake WFG, a member of the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation, chose the Williams Lake Women’s Contact Society and the Williams Lake Salvation Army Food Bank to give the money and food they collected for donation.

Staff fund raised over the course of the year to raise $314.95 towards the Women’s Contact Society, which was then matched by the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation. Staff then presented a cheque for $629.90 to the Women’s Contact Society.

On Sunday, Dec. 10, the staff also put on their first Annual Breakfast and Photos with Santa event.

They invited attendees to bring a cash or food donation for the Williams Lake Salvation Army Food Bank.

“The event was a great success,” said Rowena Bastien, insurance adviser at WFG, noting they were pleased to present $337.60 in cash and an estimated $600 in food donations to the organization.

”Our office wants to send a special thanks to the Western Financial Group Communities Foundation for financially matching our fund raising efforts this year, and to Dianne Alcock, professional photographer of Dianne Ashley Photography, and owner of the new Spice and Grind in Williams Lake, who donated her time and talent to take pictures with Santa,” said Bastien.

She also thanked the staff at Williams Lake Western Financial Group for donating their time and “prizes” for our year round efforts.
