EALC hands out scholarships, bursaries

Several students from Eighth Avenue Learning Centre receive honours and accolades during scholarship awards.

The Eighth Avenue Learning Centre handed out thousands of dollars of scholarships and bursaries during their graduation ceremonies on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Following is a list of award winners:

Eighth Avenue Learning Centre scholarship and bursary recipients:

Eighth Avenue Learning Centre adult bursaries: Christi Pritchard, Paul Hubner, Daniel Johnson.

Eighth Avenue Learning Centre scholarships: Gemini Isaac, Owen Smith, Summer Eskola, Heidi Thibeau, Jaidyn Veresh, Julian Laravee-Woods, Marika LaPorte, Vance Casavant, Carson Mowat.

Eighth Avenue Learning Centre bursary: Brooke Beks, Mylani Garcia, Kamryn Terry.

Chantelle Williams Memorial bursary: Kacey Jack

Port Alberni Labour Council (Tom Barnet memorial):  Vance Casavant

Tseshaht scholarship: Stephen Mack Jr., Angelene Barney.

ADTU bursary: Jacquelene Turgeon

CUPE 727 bursary: Jordyn Voigt
District Dogwood scholarship No 1: Mylani Garcia

District Dogwood scholarship No. 2: Ara Garcia

District Dogwood scholarship No. 3: Lucas Hendry

District Dogwood scholarship No. 4: Rylee Carde-Kelly

District Dogwood scholarship No. 5: Kamryn Terry

Dr. Chan Bursary (awarded to a student in good standing who is ready to pursue further studies): nominees were Vance Casavant, Brooke Beks, Stephen Mack Jr.

Gerry Stoutley Memorial (worth $1000): Angelene Barney

Dr. Allan Duncan Pritchard Legacy Bursary: Kacey Jack

School District 70 trustee bursary: Stephen Mack Jr. 

Coastal Community Scholarship Program (to child or grandchild of a CCCU employee: Triton Martin

Next year Eighth Avenue Learning Centre will have another memorial, the Cathy Cross Memorial bursary.
