Harling Point will boast a lot more than great views and stunning homes on Saturday.

For the fourth time, locals will gather on May 31 for the Harling Point Art Walk – an event created in 2022 to celebrate the crew of creatives that call the Oak Bay enclave home.

This year, 12 artists are slated to open their home studios to the public. Attendees will have a chance to admire – and even buy – the creatives' work, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are lucky to live in a neighbourhood with a number of artist and creative people, and I wanted to introduce artists to the neighbours who might not have been aware of the creatives in their midst,” said the event's co-founder Stephanie Malahoff. "The first year, we had perhaps about 15 artists showing. The day was such a success that neighbours all agreed we should do it again the following year. And that’s how we got started.”

Louise Quinby, who estimated that a whopping 21 artists live in the 110-home community, is one of the artists slated to show off her work.

“The first Harling Point Art Walk gave me an opportunity to show the world my pottery that I had taught myself,” she said. “I had only been making pottery for just over 15 months, but I was very well supported by my neighbours, resulting in lots of sales.”

The potter plans to host five other artists in her home studio, including 24-year-old painter Ana Myerscough.

“Harling Point is a beautiful micro-community. I’ve always been a bit shy, but getting to know neighbours who are artists has been so inspiring,” she said. “It feels like a supportive mecca for all kinds of expression, from painting to people singing on the rocks at King George Terrace. There’s a quiet creativity in the air."

A map of the participating studios will be available before the event at 2014 Crescent Rd.
