4-H has an amazing program. I had an opportunity to spend much time around the barns through out the weekend for the 4-H Show and Sale. This program not only promotes an unbelievably great group of kids but also teaches so much. It is always amazing to walk through these barns and see kids in the wee hours of the morning cleaning, feeding and getting ready for the day!

It is incredible how well so many of them clearly understand the business end of this program. How much they have spent, how much they need to get to break even and more – how much they might need to get a start on next year's project. Some have suggested to me that while the money is important to keep them going, it is not the driving force behind their commitment to the program.

Every year I am more impressed with this group of youth. I should mention that the support system around these children is equally as impressive. Moms, dads, grandparents, other family, and friends are always there to help – it really is amazing.

And of course our community has for years supported this show and sale in a huge way. This year is no exception. So many businesses and residents sponsor and buy the projects, everything from a rebuilt chainsaw, a fire fighting apparatus to a grand champion steer.

Our whole region should be very proud of ourselves for the success of this program. Hats off to everyone!
