Thrift Bucket wins Downtown Williams Lake window decorating

Judging committee was blown away by Thriftbucket's interpretation of the theme

Thriftbucket co-owners Emily Hanover and Sydney McLean are the winners of this year's Downtown Williams Lake window decorating contest.

Emily Hanover and Sydney McLean are going to be eating a lot of sushi into 2025.

The Thriftbucket co-owners were the winners of the 2024 Downtown Williams Lake BIA window decorating contest. Winners receive a $500 gift certificate to a restaurant of their choice and they chose Sushi Sakura.

For 2024, the BIA chose the theme of Candy Coated Christmas and noted this year's judging committee was blown away by Thriftbucket's interpretation of the theme, incorporating candy, baked goods, a wide variety of colour, creativity, whimsy, and holiday spirit. "Their attention to detail and effort was evident in each element of their display, and it was an excellent continuation of their brand and values," noted the Facebook announcement of the store being the winner.

First Place: Williams Lake & District Credit Union - for their playful and humorous display of holiday treats!

Second Place: Williams Lake & District Seniors Activity Centre - Better at Home and Williams Lake Library CRD

Most Creative Use of Non-Traditional Colours:

First Place: D&D Passports Xcetera - for their incredible gingerbread house using NO traditional holiday colours and a wide variety of coloured sweets

Second Place: Lo's Florist

Best Use of Lights: First Place: All Nations Healing House - this displayed wowed the judges with its wide variety of style and colours of light

Second Place: Cariboo Dress Hire/Seamaiden Boutique

Best Use of Treats:

First Place: Walk-Rite Shoes - for their VERY creative use of merchandise as treats! (Treat yourself!)

Second Place: What the Fluff Dog Grooming
