Campbell River cinephiles will be able to watch the year's biggest hits in theatres again starting on June 27.
"It was an easy decision, based on the prior level of business, the community's support and the prior management's willingness to return. The management team is movie lovers, and they're passionate about the theatre and were thrilled that they will be back," said Andrew Golin of Golin Cinemas.
Golin Cinemas has taken over the theatre located at 489 South Dogwood St. Once owned by Landmark Cinemas and named Caprice, the theatre closed its doors in January 2025. Golin has no concerns that the new theatre will end in the same situation.
The theatre will have five screens.
"It just became public, but from what I have read on social media, it's been very positive," said Golin about support for the new cinema.
Golin Cinemas Inc. has four locations on the Island. They are the Capitol 6 and Roxy in Victoria, the Duncan Cinema and now the Campbell River Cinema.
The Duncan Cinema, originally the Caprice Theatre, reopened in Dec. 2024. It was closed a year prior.
