Williams Lake curlers clean house in 100 Mile bonspiel

Two Williams Lake teams took top spots in both the A and B events

Two Williams Lake teams came out on top after the 100 Mile House Curling Club Men’s bonspiel on Jan. 12-14.

Club president Eugene Gerwing said the bonspiel had 18 teams entered, a few more than last year.

“It seems like every since Covid, people are coming back and curling,” he said of the increases they have seen each year.

Team Bisaro and Team Bowman won the A and B events, respectively, with both teams being regulars at the 100 Mile events.

Gerwing said his team played in the B event final against Team Bowman.

“It was a really good game right down to the last rock in the last end,” he said.

“It was a lot of fun.”

The tournament rewarded players for their participation, with each win netting a team some cash and winners of each event receiving cash plus a jacket to take home, or spend as they like.
