Vernon's Alexanne Lepage has added another achievement to her ever-growing list as a competitive swimmer.
The current University of Calgary Dino and former Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (VKSC) member was named to the World Aquatics Championship team, after dominating in the pool in Victoria.
Lepage won two golds and a bronze at the 2025 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, held in Victoria from June 7-12.
Golds in the women's 50 metre and 100 m breaststroke were complemented with a bronze medal in the 200 m breaststroke event.
In the 100 m event, Lepage used a strong second leg to win, after out-touching Paris Olympian Sophie Angus and Shona Branton, to earn her spot on the national team.
“I’ve raced them now for the past couple of years and it’s always a tight race,” said Lepage. “We push each other and it’s fun racing them and I was just really happy I was able to match that time and get my hand on the wall."
After not making the Olympic team last year, Lepage will have her chance competing against the best at the World Aquatics Championships, hosted in Singapore from July 11- Aug. 3.
“I just wasn’t quite able to put together the race I would have liked at the Olympic trials, but to be able to earn my spot on a team like this at trials, it means a lot."
