The future of lacrosse took centre stage in Parksville at the annual Shark Attack Tournament, organized by the Oceanside Minor Lacrosse Association.
The tyke tournament for U-9 players drew teams from all over Vancouver Island — Juan De Fuca, Saanich, Nanaimo and Comox. It is one of the OMLA's big events of the season and also its largest fundraiser every year. It was held at the Parksville Community Park lacrosse box.
Despite the searing heat, the players enjoyed some good, friendly and fun competition. To protect players from the sun's rays, a tarp was set up in the middle of the lacrosse box, which kept everyone from overheating.
OMLA indicated that it was another "huge success."
