Six Cariboo Archers competed in the Canadian Indoor 3D Championships recently in Brandon, Manitoba.
The local archers were competing in a field of 166 archers from across the country.
It was an Archery Canada event and relied on rules established in the United States for this year's competition, which Al Campsall of the Cariboo Archers said was a controversial move.
But Campsall said all three of the younger archers from the Cariboo made the podium at the national event. The young archers are all members of Campsall's local 260+ Club.
"The results for Cariboo Archers were laudable," said Campsall.
Six-time Canadian Champion Lily Fraser won the silver medal at the event and Dan Huska, at his first Canadian Championships finished 25th in what Campsal said is one of the toughest groups, hunter.
Hudson Huska won silver and Heidi Schaer won bronze in both young archers first Canadian Championships. Hudson had won the BC Championship last year and Heidi was second.
Two-time Canadian Champion, Cara Fraser, finished fifth in the known female category, meaning she could know the distance of the shot using a range finder.
Campsall himself, a 21-time Canadian Champion, said he missed the bronze medal by one point, finishing fourth.
Campsall said his 260+ Club was very dominant pre-COVID and the youth program is still rebuilding.
"I am hugely proud of our kids," said Campsall of their results.
He said so far, youth from the 260+ Club have won 22 gold medals, nine silver and four bronze at Canadian championships over the years.
The next important contest Cariboo Archers will be attending is the BC Indoor Target Championships in Richmond in four weeks time.
