Blue Fins claim top spots at meet

For the first time in several years there was a strong showing from three swim clubs at the Blue Fins' Frost Fest swim meet.

For the first time in several years there was a strong showing from three swim clubs in the Blue Fins annual Frost Fest meet at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool.

Joining the host Blue Fins and the ever present Prince George Barracudas were members of the newly formed Quesnel Waveriders swim club.

Swimmers were competing Saturday and Sunday. The following are the aggregate results from the meet:

Fifteen and over female individual: gold, Tracey Beauchamp; silver, Geneva Gordon; bronze, Abbi Taylor.

Fifteen and over male individual: gold, Patrick Verbeeck; silver, Jeremy Zwiers.

Thirteen and 14 female individual: gold, Ashley Beauchamp; silver, Danika Robson; bronze, Kelsey Blokland.

Eleven and 12 female individual: gold, Coral Choi.

Eleven and 12 male individual: gold, David Russell.

On Sunday the fastest six male and female swimmers from Saturday’s 200-metre individual medley squared off in a Dash for Cash Showdown, sponsored by Johnston-Meier Insurance.

The winners for the men’s and women’s respective  races are as follows:

First: Ashley Beauchamp ($75); second, Tracey Beauchamp ($50); third, Geneva Gordon ($25).

First: Patrick Verbeeck ($75); second, Jeremy Zwiers ($50); third, Prince George’s Adrian Lamb ($25).
