After a busy spring travelling back and forth from Victoria, I am looking forward to a summer spent here in Cariboo-Chilcotin, enjoying the incredible events our region has to offer. From rodeos and stampedes to farmers markets and fairs, there are so many activities and events to attend and participate in over the next few weeks and months.
Last week marked the return of the Williams Lake Farmers’ Market, with more than 35 vendors setting up shop near Kiawanis park. It is truly an amazing market and we are privileged to have such incredible artisans and vendors in our community. I hope that you are able to find the time to visit the market and purchase some local goods this summer.
I also encourage you to check out the 100 Mile House farmers market, which runs every Friday downtown, as well at the 108 Heritage Site market that runs every Saturday.
In addition to our many farmers markets, Cariboo-Chilcotin is also getting ready to hold numerous stampedes and rodeos, including the 71st annual Bridge Lake Stampede on July 1st, the 100 Mile Little Britches and Riske Creek little Britches, and of course, the Williams Lake Stampede — also taking place on the Canada Day long weekend.
Among all the many organized events taking place, there are many other opportunities for recreation and adventure in the Cariboo this summer. We have some of the best lakes, trails, and scenery in the province, perfect for hiking, fishing, kayaking, mountain biking and so many other activities.
As you begin to make your summer plans and look forward to the coming season, I encourage you to set aside some time in the next few weeks to truly enjoy and appreciate this beautiful place we get to call home.
