After much discussion with neighbours, it would still appear the CVRD is still not doing a good job communicating the impact of zoning changes with the MOCP, or that there are any changes being developed.
A lot of properties in Cobble Hill are going to be designated "Large Lot Suburban", where they are currently designated RR# (permitting small farms) — and therefore a lot of "Hobby" farms — which contribute greatly to Cowichan's local food supply and food security!
With these changes, we will be removing a vital resource for our community. I encourage the CVRD to not repeat mistakes of the past, by barely engaging the residents, and running these changes through without any consideration for the impact to local small scale agriculture these properties provide. These lots need to retain their ability for use as is by designating an equivalent to existing — either Small Lot Rural or Country Suburban. These designations would be much more appropriate.
