In an attempt to demonize landlords, Duncan city council is going to write a letter to the provincial government asking them to cap rent increases at 10 per cent.
Councillor Carol Newington claims landlords often double rents in between tenants but offers no evidence or context to back this ridiculous claim. Perhaps Duncan city council should look in the mirror to see who is really increasing costs.
Duncan city council recently imposed a whopping 11.1 per cent tax increase on city taxpayers.
The hefty tax increases Duncan city council continues to impose on taxpayers would almost be tolerable if the money was being spent on projects that benefit the community at large, but sadly this is not the case.
Duncan city council is steadfast in its commitment to nonsensical pet projects such as scramble crosswalks, divided bike lanes, and that ridiculous so-called park on Station Street which will attract no one to downtown Duncan.
Yes city councillors look in the mirror, you’re the problem.
