In loving memory ~
Waine passed away at home surrounded by his family. His bravery shone as he fought a valiant fight against metastatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Julie (Mike) and son Jono (Elise) and four cherished granddaughters Jaidyn, Coco, Nadya & Katelyn. Also, sadly missed by his brothers: Harold and Len; many in-laws, nieces, nephews & lifelong friends.
Waine was born in Nipawin Saskatchewan on May 19th, 1947. At the age of 9, his family moved to British Columbia and spent several years looking for the best area to work in the forest industry & a place to enjoy the great outdoors. They settled in the Cariboo in 1957. As a teen, he loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle & tinkering with his car. Eventually, his focus changed and Waine moved to the coast, courting the love of his life, Sharon. Soon after they were married in the Fall of 1971, they returned to Williams Lake.
Waine's career spanned everything from driving commercial trucks, to home construction and finally 37 years as a heavy-duty mechanic at Weldwood of Canada - West Fraser Mills.
Family was always Waine's first priority. Kids & grandkids were his favourite choice to vacation with, and he never missed an opportunity to explore the world or work alongside them at home. He looked forward to phone calls from Julie or Jono asking for advice or help. It didn't take long for his truck to be leaving the driveway, a happy dad at the wheel and on a mission.
Being a helpful neighbour and also a part of his church community was important to Waine. He was happy and willing to serve by using his tools and equipment as no job was too challenging for him. His time spent volunteering at Maranatha Christian School was also very rewarding.
Regardless of his schedule, he made time every morning for a cup of coffee with his friends. This inspired him to make the most of his day and be his best self for those of us around him. He was always the rock that we leaned on and will be forever missed.
The family would like to thank the Community Home nurses, Ambulatory Care nurses, Dr. W. Engelbrecht, Dr. Van Der Merwe & Dr. LaBossiere for their compassion.
