Lovingly Remembered ~
It's with heavy hearts that we would like to announce the passing of our father, grandfather, partner and a dear friend to all who had the privilege of meeting him.
Vance was a well-respected member of the Chilcotin and was affectionately dubbed "the inventor". With a kind, friendly and outgoing nature, Vance was able to strike up conversations with just about anyone and was known to have a little mischievous/humorous side as well.
Vance moved to Chilcotin from Maple Ridge over 20 years ago to Chilanko Rosa Ranch to be with Lorraine James. He was always creating useful devices for around the ranch and in the house and was always ready to lend a hand or repair a neighbor's breakdown, having a unique talent to repair just about anything.
In his early years Vance played polo, participated in show jumping and tent pegging and entered in various horse shows throughout the lower mainland, harvesting lifelong friendships with his fellow equestrians.
In his early days, Vance worked as a mechanic at Mussallem Motors in Maple Ridge. During his 32 years there, he did many things including designing and building horse trailers and car washes.
He was an avid reader, especially books related to aviation and biographies, and his love for animals was second to none.
Vance's passing on May 18th was unexpected and that sparkle in his eye will be missed by all who knew him. Survived by son Vance (Jackie), daughter Paula, son Lea (Lenka) and three granddaughters.
A Celebration of life is currently being planned will take place later to be announced.
