In Loving Memory ~
It's with great sadness that the Hilker family announces the loss of their loving, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Roy was pre-deceased by his wife Marion in 1973 and his first Grandson David in 1975. Roy was also predeceased by his partner of 40 years Dallas Sears and son-in-law Ray Grzybowicz in 2016.
Roy is survived by two daughters, one son, 2 stepsons, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Roy was born in Swalwell, Alberta in 1929 and moved with his parents and two older brothers to Ribstone, Alberta in 1933.
Roy left the farm in 1947 and travelled from Wainwright Alberta to New Westminister, British Columbia.
Roy worked at Capilano Timber and then was a guard at Oakalla Prison before joining the New Westminster Police Force in 1952.
In 1976 Roy took early retirement from the New Westminster Police Force leaving his position as a Detective.
Roy and his partner purchased the 150 Hotel in 1976 which they owned and operated until 1991. At this point, they fully retired and remained in the area.
Roy passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023.
