In loving memory ~
The family, and the extended family of many friends, are heartbroken to announce the passing of Peter Scott Priestman, at home, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, after a very courageous battle with cancer.
Peter Priestman was born in Scarborough, Ontario, on August 3, 1957. He lived in the Severn River and Toronto areas of Ontario until 1967, when he travelled west by train, with his mother and sisters, all the way to Salmon Arm, B.C.
Peter attended school in Salmon Arm and helped to found the local Youth Centre. He also discovered his love of cooking and catering there, working at Gabe's Bunkhouse. As a young man in the mid-1970's, Peter embarked on an adventure to the north and settled in Williams Lake. A lifelong IWA member, Peter worked in the lumber industry for his entire career.
In his personal life, Peter loved to garden, cook, camp, and work with wood. He was a proud member of the Cariboo Men's Choir since its inception. He had many dogs and cats over the years, and loved each one dearly.
Peter is predeceased by his parents Anne and Gordon Priestman, older sister Leanne Chaisson, and stepmother Faye Fawcett. He is survived by his younger sister Suzan Jarisz and niece Stephanie Sparkes, both of Kamloops, as well his niece Michelle Worsley (Roger), great-niece Bridgette Haselhan (Bowen) and great-nephew Jacob Combs, all of Williams Lake.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Francina van der Merwe, the care aids and home care nurses from Interior Health, and the support staff at the hospital for the compassion and care given to Peter. You all made his journey and his final days more comfortable with your exceptional kindness and empathy. Peter will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on."
