In loving memory ~
Marie Margaret Lumley passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday December 27, 2023 in Invermere British Columbia. Marie will be deeply missed by her children Bonita Lumley, Sandra Blydo (Vance) and Douglas Lumley. Her grandchildren India, Michael, Sydney and Kaden. Siblings Evelyn Tarnowski and Helen Williams (Bob). Her sister in law Jeanette Petersen; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Marie was pre-deceased by her husband George Lumley, parents Hans and Mary Petersen; four brothers Walter, Peter, Joseph and Elgar Petersen; two sisters Margaret Petersen and Martha Eggerman.
Marie, being the youngest child of nine was determined to strike out on her own. After high school, she attended Saskatoon Teachers College and went on to teach throughout Saskatchewan before taking a teaching position in Langley, B.C. While teaching in Langley, Marie was introduced to George Lumley. They were a perfect match and married in 1968 in Marie's hometown of Humboldt, SK. Three kids followed and the family made the move up to Williams Lake in 1976. Marie continued her teaching career in Williams Lake after taking time off to raise her children. Marie's passions were teaching, gardening and having a good day ice fishing. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She will be greatly missed.
