October 19, 1942 - April 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Jennie Rae Walker on April 8, 2025. Jennie is survived by her daughter Gayle (Ivan) son John, stepson Warren (Darelle), grand daughters Amanda (Ben), Megan, Devyn (Glen), Jenna (Colin), Samantha (Jimmy) and great grand children Liselle, Boston and Millie. Jennie was predeceased by her husband John and daughter Tracey.

Jennie was born October 19, 1942, in Williams Lake to a large extended family. She was the youngest and had six older brothers - the Hutchinson boys! Her mother Lillian Alberta Curtis was everything to her and she was devastated when Lil died in 1972 and sadly she lost all her brothers through the years.

In the early years, Jennie and John lived in the Squamish/Whistler area spending time with great friends the Borutski's and Costain's. Jennie loved the outdoors, summer at the beautiful lakes, playing cards and board games and being with family and friends.

In 1977 John and Jennie moved to Williams Lake and spent the rest of their years in the area. John worked for Alan Ilnicki Trucking and Bev and Alan were great friends to John and Jennie. Spending time with family and friends, curling with Tubby, Bev and Rose and watching sports were favourite past times. Jennie loved sports, particularly baseball and would attend all her children's and Ivan's games as much as she could. Her favourite time was with her grand children though and that is where she found her true happiness.

Jennie was the Health Director at Three Corners Health for many years. Jennie was very proud of her indigenous heritage and spent a lot of time researching and documenting the family history. Jennie was a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. The extended family started the Curtis Family Reunion in 1990. These reunions were such an enjoyment and accomplishment for Jennie - remembering the past, our roots and our heritage but celebrating the present. The family continues with this tradition every five years.

Jennie spent the last three years at the Williams Lake Seniors Village. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the care she received.

Rest in peace Mom - we will miss you terribly.

A funeral will be held Friday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a luncheon.
