August 13, 1947 - May 25, 2025

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mom, Jean Elizabeth Marilyn Atkinson (Hulley). Jean passed away with family by her side on May 25, 2025, at the age of 77 in Williams Lake, BC.

Jean was born in Vancouver, B.C on August 13, 1947, the only child to Helen and Gordon Atkinson. As an adult Jean settled in Revelstoke, B.C with her husband and two young children. Beyond her role as a mother, Jean found joy in her many hobbies as she explored her creative passions. Jean also became involved in the church, where she developed life-long friendships. After her diagnoses with dementia in 2022, Jean moved to Williams Lake B.C to be closer to her daughter.

Mom was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits did not define her. They were just a part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with many of life's challenges. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. Mom shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God's plan. Her unwavering faith guided her life and her approach to motherhood.

Mom had incredible artistic talent and took on many passions throughout her life. With a naturally strong artistic aptitude she pursued a wide range of interests and a desire to explore different creative outlets, including; painting, drawing, beading, quilting, sewing, needlepoint, and even creating her own teddy bears. Most of which she learned through independent study, experimentation, and practice.

Mom always knew the right thing to say and never missed a special date. She was an excellent gift giver, always seeking out the most unique and personalized gifts. Mom put the magic in holidays with family traditions and her holiday baking and she always made sure we had the best birthdays, full of activities and homemade birthday cakes.

While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing mom is no longer suffering.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her son, Scott Hulley (Nikki); daughter, LeeAnn Oliveira (John); grandchildren, Ty and Aiden; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Williams Lake Seniors Village for the care she received during her stay there and a special thank you to Dr. Fagan.

Jean will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In keeping with Jeans wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C or a cause close to your heart.
