Truck strikes police cruiser

The Williams Lake RCMP are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle who fled police Saturday.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., RCMP members were conducting a patrol for a vehicle being driven erratically.

The vehicle, a 2007 black Dodge pick-up, was travelling at a high rate of speed and barely negotiated a turn onto Comer Street, say police. The vehicle continued to be driven recklessly through the city and when an attempt was made to stop it, the driver fled.

The police pursued the vehicle; however, the driver eluded a spike belt and struck a police car as it left the city limits. The car was then pursued on Soda Creek Road across Rudy Johnson bridge and north towards Quesnel on West Fraser Road.

The Quesnel RCMP provided assistance setting up a spike belt near Tienzaicut Lake Road; the Williams Lake members ended their pursuit 15 kilometres south of that location.

The vehicle, however, did not appear.

The RCMP requests that any one with information on the current whereabouts of the vehicle, identity of the driver, or any other occupant to contact them at the detachment at 250-392-6211 or Crimestoppers.
