The small wildfire discovered near 3.1 km east of Tzenzaicut Lake has grown from 0.009 hectares to 0.6 hectares as of 3:09 p.m., according to the BC Wildfire Service. It is the first out of control wildland blaze in the area since the fire near Hixon in early May.

The BC Wildfire Service has it classified as out of control, meaning it is expected to spread beyond the current area.

Wildfire crews are taking actions to suppress the fire to stop it from spreading.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
