UPDATE: Man apprehended following police presence at Kamloops hotel

Update April 30, 11 a.m.

Kamloops RCMP apprehended a man following a police presence at a local hotel. 

Police were called to a hotel on Columbia Street around 3 p.m. for a person in distress with a firearm. 

The incident was resolved just after 5 p.m.


RCMP and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team are on scene for a high-risk call at a Kamloops hotel.

The call to a hotel on Columbia Street came around 3 p.m. for a person experiencing a mental health crisis and in possession of a firearm. 

The public is being asked to avoid the area.
