Thanks to Operation Red Nose, 657 people in the Williams Lake area were delivered home safe and sound during this holiday season from various celebrations and events.
“We now have concluded the eighth Operation Red Nose in Williams Lake and are happy with the results,” said manager of community safety Dave Dickson in a press release Tuesday.
“Albeit we are statistically down from previous years, but we were able to get many Williams Lake folks and their vehicles safely home.”
Without the support of organizations in Williams Lake, Dickson said the program would not be operational each year.
In total, during the season, 213 volunteers delivered the program, giving 325 rides and driving 5,783 kilometres, Dickson said.
“Again, we are truly grateful and now we start planning for our 2017 campaign.”
Donations toward the program provided by riders of more than $8,400 will be distributed to four youth groups within Williams Lake.
They include the Cariboo Chilcotin Fiddlers, Cariboo Chilcotin Gymnastics, Blue Fins Swim club and the Williams Lake Skate club.
