A fire on Frizzi Road Thursday afternoon sent one person to hospital with smoke inhalation due to his attempts to put out the blaze.

When firefighters arrived at 4019 Frizzi Rd. flames were showing through the roof of the structure.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the roof area. The blaze is believed to have been started by an improper chimney for a wood heater. An estimate on the home’s damage was not available. Twenty-one firefighters responded to the call with three apparatus.

Deputy fire chief Des Webster reminds homeowners to ensure wood stoves and other heaters are installed according to manufacturer instructions or the building code.

“If there are any doubts about proper installation, people should call a wood-stove inspector to do an inspection,” he says.
