The Naramata Fire Department will apply for $10,000 from the Farm Credit Canada Grant for the purchase of a new hose.

The hose will meet the BC Wildfire Service specification for wildland support.

As of March 1, 2023, BC Wildfire Service changed its hose requirements for wildland firefighting.

The previous specifications were for a minimum 4.6 metre length to a minimum of 7.6 or 9.1 metres, meeting certain other requirements.

The Naramata Fire Department requires 50 hoses, 38 millimetres in diameter, that will meet the present BC Wildfire specifications, Deborah Jones-Middleton, senior manager of protective services said in a report to the regional district.

The grant, if approved, would cover the total funding required to purchase the hoses.
