The Prince George RCMP have confirmed that a former Williams Lake resident is dead following a strange incident in the Red Rock area, south of Prince George, last week.
On Sept. 17 the Prince George RCMP began investigating a serious incident that left one man dead and one woman in critical condition in hospital.
Police were called out at about 5:30 a.m. to a report of a suspicious-looking vehicle in the area. The vehicle involved had fled the area but was then located by a witness a short distance away, down an embankment on a Forest Service road.
“This investigation is still at a very preliminary stage and we are not in a position to be releasing any details regarding our current findings nor any details with respect to the parties involved at this time," said Const. Lesley Smith Prince George RCMP media liaison.
"In essence right now we have a motor vehicle incident and a series of other possible criminal elements to investigate which includes the death of a male and a female who has serious injuries," Smith said.
Investigators have been able to piece together a large amount of evidence and information from various sources including the scene, autopsy and witnesses. However, the medical treatment and condition of the female have kept investigators from speaking with her.
Although she is expected to recover, her condition is still serious.
At this time, investigators are able to say that the deceased man was a 29-year-old former resident of Williams Lake, who was residing in Prince George at the time of this incident.
The female is a 27-year-old Prince George resident.
The investigation is continuing, and police have not released the name of the deceased.
