The Cariboo Regional District will be holding a byelection for the Area F director seat because the successful candidate has been ill.
Conrad Turcotte, who won the seat with 61.2 per cent of the votes, had 45 days from the Oct. 20 election to take his oath of office, but he suffered a stroke on Oct. 21 and has been in the hospital ever since.

Conrad’s wife Debbie Turcotte said he was moved from Vancouver General Hospital to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops about three weeks ago.
“He’s doing a little better,” she said Monday. “He is doing rehab for his speech, arm and everything.”
General election day for the byelection is tentatively scheduled for March 30, 2019, said Emily Epp, CRD manager of communications.
“However, the by-election details and time-line will be confirmed by the CRD board at the next meeting on Jan. 18, 2019.”
Joan Sorley has remained on as Area F director and attended board meetings in Turcotte’s absence.
Area F covers Horsefly, Likely and 150 Mile House.
