The City of Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional District are conducting a survey to gather public feedback on recreation needs and issues in the Central Cariboo.
The survey is to gather community feedback that will assist in the planning of future recreation opportunities within the Central Cariboo recreation boundary.
Information gathered will be used to determine where resources should be allocated for the provision of recreation in the area.
“Community engagement and feedback is extremely important in these types of initiatives,” said Central Cariboo co-chair Steve Mazur in a press release.
“Recreation is vital to developing a vibrant and healthy community and we need public input to ensure we make strategic planning decisions that directly benefit our residents and our communities.”
The survey can be accessed by visiting the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Facebook page, by electronic links to the survey on the recreation services, City of Williams Lake and Cariboo Regional District websites, and by e-mailing recreationsurvey@williamslake.ca to receive an electronic copy. Hard copies are also available at City Hall, the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex and the Cariboo Regional District Williams Lake office.
“There are a number of variables that need to be considered when we begin to discuss how to create and sustain a healthy, balanced community over the long term… . Council needs to be able to strategically plan and allocate resources. Public input facilitates this process by helping us to identify recreation priorities,” said Coun. Surinderpal Rathor, chair of the community services committee.
All survey participants are eligible to win a one-month pass to the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex. Six one-month passes are to be randomly drawn from those who participate.
