B.C. man who doused Mountie with gasoline has appeal dismissed

Vernon man Blake Dergez had his appeal dismissed by the B.C. Court of Appeal. Dergez had been convicted and sentenced to two-years in jail on charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats in May 2024.

A Vernon man who doused a police officer with gasoline and threatened to light him on fire has had his appeal dismissed. 

Blake Dergez received a two-year jail sentence last year for assault with a weapon related to the gasoline-dousing incident, which took place in 2021. Dergez also received a four-month consecutive sentence for uttering threats, and one month each for four breaches of probation orders.
