Williams Lake RCMP confirmed they believe alcohol was a factor in a lunch hour crash near Marie Sharpe Elementary School Wednesday.
Const. Champagne said police were called to a two-vehicle collision at 12:27 that the Williams Lake Fire Dept. was attending on Third Avenue North near Comer Street.
“A northbound car had hit a parked SUV and then crashed into the curb on the sidewalk,” Champagne said. “Officers detained the driver on scene and an impaired investigation showed that alcohol was a factor.”

A witness at the scene told the Tribune they could see the driver being given a roadside sobriety test by an RCMP officer before being taken away police.
The driver went to hospital with injuries, Champagne added, noting the extent of the injuries are not known at this time.
