41.9 average age in Williams Lake: Census 2016

Census 2016 indicates the average age in the Williams Lake area is 41.9 according to data released Wednesday by Statistics Canada.

The average age of people living in the Williams Lake area in 2016 was 41.9 years of age according to the 2016 Census.

On Wednesday, May 3, Statistics Canada released information on population and the types of dwellings people are living in.

Breaking the numbers down, the census shows the Williams Lake area had a population of 18,725 with 9,240 males and 9,040 females.

Children ages 0 to 14 made up 3,050 of the population, with 995 of them being four years and younger, while 11,895 people fell between the ages of 15 to 64 and 3,330 were 65 years and older.

In 2016 there were also five people over the age of 100.

There were some slight differences from the 2011 census when there were 18,480 people living in the Williams Lake area.

In 2011, there were 3,245 children age 0 to 14, 12,685 people ages 15 to 64 years, and there were 2,540 people 65 years and over and the average age was 40.

For the Williams Lake area there were a total of 4,505 dwellings in 2016.

Of those 2,165 were single detached homes, 765 were in buildings with less than five storeys, 335 were row houses, 240 were semi-detached, 495 were apartments or flats in a duplex, 15 were single-attached homes and 495 were movable dwellings.

Again the numbers vary slightly from 2011 when there were 4,525 dwellings in total.

Of those 2,155 were single detached, 810 were in apartments with less than five storeys, 335 were in row houses, 255 semi-detached homes, 435 apartments or flats in a duplex, 30 single attached homes and 500 movable dwellings.
