The Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Traffic Services (CCRTS) cracked down on impaired driving this holiday season.
Between Dec. 1 to Jan. 1 CCRTS members stopped eight drivers who were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, according to RCMP Sgt. Brian Lamb of the CCRTS. This was determined after the impaired individuals blew a “fail” in roadside breath tests.
All eight were issued Immediate Roadside Prohibition for the 90 days and had their vehicles impounded for an additional 30 days. An additional six drivers who were pulled over were issued Immediate Roadside Prohibition for three days after receiving a “warn” from their breath tests.

A single additional driver was issued a 24-hour suspension by the force.
“Each one of these stops was a result of being proactive and were not called in by the public,” Lamb said in a statement.
None of these incidents occurred New Year’s Eve.
