Born and raised in Williams Lake, volunteering in the community has always been something Alexis Forseille has taken great pride in.
Forseille, 24, hopes to bring a more youthful perspective to the table when she runs for school trustee in the upcoming Oct. 20 election, and is running for the Zone 6 seat representing Williams Lake.
“Volunteering in the community has been a huge portion of my life,” Forseille said.

Forseille was the Williams Lake Stampede Queen in 2012 and carried forward that title to represent the lakecity in 2014 as the local representative for the Miss Rodeo Canada competition.
Her parents, both educators, also played a role in her decision to run for a position as trustee.
“I want to help build our community, so decided to put my name forward, and I believe in building positive and respectful relationships which I can see the school district, right now, is needing.”
Forseille said when she put forward her application she recognized just two of seven current trustees were seeking reelection.
“There’s a turnover situation occurring and I would be looking forward to seeing lots of new faces and starting to build positive relationships with support staff, students and teachers in the district.”

Forseille said she thinks listening to the educators in our community and making sure they have a voice, putting their thoughts forward and preparing a budget that works for all parties — educators and students — in the community is of utmost importance.
“I want to connect in each of the schools, and with the families,” she said.
As for being the youngest candidate to run for a school board position, Forseille said she sees it as an asset.
“I’m 24, but coming from and growing up in Williams lake I can appreciate different aspects from different generations and help the kids grow into the future.”
