The Williams Lake Mustangs made their regular season debut on Sept. 20, and managed to stomp the Sicamou Eagles in a 5-2 victory in front of a hometown crowd.
Mustangs fans got to see the team kick the season off with a win, despite a flat first period with no goals.
But in a flurry of success, Mustangs managed to put the puck in the net fives times in the second period, and while the Eagles answered back with one of their own in the second and one in the third, the visiting team never came back from the deficit.
Dawson Ernst scored two of the five goals, and was the first to put one between the posts. Asher Lucas also sent two past the goalie, and Rory Mumford also scored one for the Mustangs.
The team estimated there were around 750 fans out for the home game, with another set for Saturday night against the Merritt Centennials on home ice again.
The puck drops Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Cariboo Memorial Arena on Rink one at 7 p.m.
