A Williams Lake Mustang alumni, who played with the team for their first three seasons was happy to be behind the glass watching a Mustangs team take the ice once again.
Dave Chapell was also glad to be able to even see the game, thanks to a new platform built at the last minute to enable mobility device users to view the game, despite the seated lift being out of service.
Leslie Rowse, Mustangs team operations manager, said the arena had hoped the lift would be able to be fixed in time for the season opener weekend, but at the last minute, it was still not working.
So on Thursday, just one day before the first regular season game and home ice debut for the KIJHL team, a simple ramp and viewing platform was constructed.
Thanks to this last minute effort, Chapell was able to watch the team he once laced up for step back onto the ice.
Chapell was wearing both a Williams Lake Mustangs jersey and hat and was all smiles as he took it all in from behind the net.
