Children ages eight through 11 years of age tested their mettle Friday with the annual cross-country running races in Williams Lake.
The weather could not have been more perfect as the fog lifted, revealing blue skies and the backdrop of autumn colours glowing from the trees in Boitanio Park.
Parents, teachers, siblings, peers and grandparents lined the race track to cheer the young athletes who represented the Williams Lake area schools.
Racing started at 11 a.m. and finished by about 12:30 p.m.
Each race was led by teenagers, referred to as rabbits in the case the children were foxes chasing the rabbits.
Having the rabbits in place ensured the children would know where to run through the park and in some cases there was more than one 'rabbit running ahead of the 'foxes.'
