Valley Stars Titanium will be competing at the Summit All-Star Cheerleading Championship.

Cheerleading is set to make its mark in Williams Lake for the first time.

Brittany Brunoro, a member of the All Star Cheerleading community for six years now, recently moved to the Cariboo and has brought her love and passion of cheer with her. She is looking for new all-star cheerleaders to join Williams Lake's first ever competitive cheerleading program.

The Cariboo Cheer All Stars is the newest member of the BC Sport Cheer, the province's provincial organization for sport cheer. There are a total of 29 different programs, universities and schools that are affiliated with BC Sport Cheer across the province.

Brunoro moved to Williams Lake with her family last year from the coast for a more laid back and quieter lifestyle. Her child started cheer when she was just a toddler, and they have travelled around the province together to compete in numerous cheerleading competitions. As Williams Lake did not have any cheerleading club, Brunoro was determined to keep her passion alive.

"When we moved here, I wasn't ready to give up cheer," she said. "[I] worked on bringing the sport to town in the first year being in Williams Lake."

Brunoro is hoping to use her coaching credentials and experience with the All Star program to create and grow a cheer community in Williams Lake, and is dedicated to making that happen.

"I want athletes in this town to experience the joys of competing and watching their passion grow for cheer," she said. "At Cariboo Cheer, I want to show athletes what it means to be a team, and there is always room for everyone to improve their skills."

Young athletes who are interested in joining Williams Lake's newest club and participating in cheer for the first time can register or learn more by calling or emailing Cariboo Cheer at 250-302-1899 and cariboocheer@shaw.ca. They are also on Instagram at 'cariboocheer.'
