Williams Lake Mustangs lost their two games against Quesnel River Rush over the weekend and one against Kamloops Storm.
In the game Friday in Quesnel, the Rush won 8-3.
Scoring for the Mustangs were Kaelen Swanson, Jacob Shtaif and Tyson Carter.
Goalie Alex Jessey stopped 35 of 43 shots on goal while Rush goalie Kyan Gray stopped 27 of 30.
Saturday’s game in Williams Lake was much closer with many fans shaking their heads as they left the arena.
Some muttering that the Mustangs were robbed of the win.
With only 1.5 seconds left in the third period, and the Mustangs leading by 6-5 it looked like they were going to win.
Scoring for Williams Lake were Declan Pocock with two goals, Logan Hauk with two, JP Desabrais and Rory Mumford each getting one.
In that short window, the Rush’s Ian George scored a goal, forcing the game into overtime. The scoreboard shows the goal was scored at 20:00.
No goals were scored in the first 5-minute overtime, but in the shootout Quesnel got two goals and Williams Lake got none.
Goalie Evan Leggett faced 58 shots on goal.
Sunday’s game, again on home ice, saw Kamloops Storm win 2-1.
Logan Hauk made the lone goal of the game and goalie Alex Jessey stopped 31 of 33 goals.
