Be part of the fun at 2024 Indoor Spring Classic Rodeo in Williams Lake

Volunteer at the event set to take place April 19, 20, 21

Looking to give back to the community in a fun way? Organizers Roy Call and Richard Kohlen are welcoming volunteers to be part of the Indoor Spring Classic Rodeo, the lakecity’s first rodeo of the season.

Set to take place April 19, 20 and 21, the event will see a rodeo on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Saturday and Sunday starting at 1 p.m. each day.

Volunteers are needed in a number of roles such as serving drinks in the beer gardens set up in Rink 2, taking tickets as well as setting up the arena Wednesday, April 17 and take down Sunday, April 21.

It takes about 40 loads of dirt and a super B train full of panels and bucking chutes to transform Rink 1 into a rodeo arena.

Kolhen said staff from the city of Williams Lake and Peterson Contracting generously move the dirt into the arena, while Mike King Excavating is in charge of ground conditions.

“His knowledge makes our arena second to none. Safety of the ladies in the barrel racing is always a big concern in hockey arenas,” said Kohlen. “Mike makes the venue safe and fast. The competitors love that, and our attention on that front helps with our entries in terms of numbers and quality.”

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Richard Kohlen at richardkohlen@gmail.com or by cell at 250-302-1074.
