Francis Johnson is getting the team back together, the hockey team that is.

Francis Johnson wants to keep the Alkali hockey legacy alive, and is inviting his fellow Alkali Renegades to join him for dinner and a celebration on Dec. 21.

The solstice night celebration will be honouring both the Alkali Renegades hockey team from the 1980s as well as the Alkali Braves, a historic team from the 1930s famous for taking on the Vancouver all-star team in the Commercial Hockey League at the time. The event will acknowledge the deep hockey history of Esk'etemc.

The Renegades included many members who were descendants of the original Braves team.

Johnson said the event, which will take place at the Esk'etemc gymnasium, will include dinner, a moment of silence for the team members who have passed, guest emcees, and new jerseys and team photos for the team members in attendance.

The Alkali Renegades were zone 4 champions when Francis Johnson was a  player, and he hopes to celebrate with his fellow Renegades on Saturday.

Doors for the dinner open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 21.
