Four gymnasts from Williams Lake have qualified for high school provincials after competing in Prince George the weekend of Jan. 20.
“There were phenomenal,” said Annie Glanville, one of the coaches at Cariboo Chilcotin Gymnastics where the athletes train. “I was really happy for them.”
River Frost, 15, got seventh on beam, second on bars, first on floor, fourth on vault and sixth all around. River has been in competitive gymnastics for six years.
Harmony Glanville, 14, placed first on vault and bars, second on beam and floor, and first all around. She has been competing for seven years.
Brooklin Kozenko, 13, took first on vault, second on bars, first on beam, fourth on floor and first all around. Brooklin has competed for six years.
Brooklyn Page, 14, won first on floor and vault, second on bars, third on beam and second overall. She has been competing for five years.
For River, it was the first time she competed since her mom Trudi Frost was killed in a collision on Highway 20 on Aug. 15, 2023.
Her family has supported her, as she has pushed through, persevered and trained.
“I am extremely proud of River for continuing with competitive gymnastics during this difficult time,” said her older sister Tianna Frost. “I am also so thankful she is able to be a part of such a positive community at the gymnastics club.”
Glanville said the girls spend 16 hours a week at the gym training with herself and coach Peggy Willcox.
The 2024 BC Secondary Schools Provincial Championships will also be in Prince George, Feb. 25 to 27.
