Winter weather settles on Cariboo Chilcotin

Williams Lake and area saw some snowfall over the weekend and first thing Monday morning as well

Winter weather and winter roads have come to the Cariboo, with snowfall over the weekend and more falling on the morning of Monday, Nov. 18.

Drive BC warned of slippery sections between the start of the Horsefly-Likely Road and the end of of Horsefly-Likely Road for about 4.5 km with compact snow in sections, as well as warnings for slippery sections along the Horsefly Road and Likely Roads.

The site also warned of slippery sections between Wright Station Road and Kragbak Road for 70.8 km south of 150 Mile House to north of Wildwood along Highway 97. The warning then continued north of Wildwood to south of Quesnel. All road conditions in those areas included compact snow in sections.

Highway 20 was also noted as having slippery sections between Bush Road and Williams Lake, again with compact snow.

Also along Highway 20, Drive BC said there is compact snow between Hunlen Falls Turner Lakes Trailhead and Sawmill Creek Road, west of Anahim Lake to Tatla Lake. 

Some slippery sections also were reported in Bella Coola Valley, including the Bella Coola Hill.

The current temperature at time of writing was -3 C, with temperatures forecast to average 2 C over the next couple of days.

This is one degree warmer than average temperatures for this time of year. Lows forecast will also be up to 10 degrees below average showing greater fluctuation in weather throughout the coming days. Watch for ice and compact snow as a result of changing temperatures in places.
